The Freethought Party of India (FPI) felicitated its joint secretary Gandharb Nayak, who won unopposed the Ward Member post from Ward-9 of Ranasinghpur GP under the Bhubaneswar Panchayat Samiti and the Jatni Assembly constituency.
Nayak, one of the prominent Dalit leaders of Khordha district, was felicitated in the party office on Wednesday by FPI president Bijayananda Kar and general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire.
The party also celebrated January 25 as the 7TH National Voters’ Day (Election Commission’s Foundation Day) under the chairmanship of Kar.
Party general secretary B Ramchandra said the celebration of the National Voters’ Day would gather maximum importance if the present unjust First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system of election was replaced by the Nepalese brand of mixed Proportional Representation (PR) System of election. Party president Kar called upon the rural voters of the State to cast their valuable votes for those candidates who are really honest and sincerely public-spirited.
