The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has opposed any surgical operation inside India against any group of Indian citizens branded as terrorist group - be it the banned Maoist party or even the banned SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India).
Therefore, it decried the gunning down of as many as 30 Maoists belonging to the Andhra — Odisha Border (AOB) Special zone Committee in Malkanagiri.
In India almost all the major political parties, including the BJP, Congress, JDU, AAP, BJD, TMC, DMK, ADMK etc. have developed a vested interest in the unjust FPTP system of election: less votes more seats, it said.
In 2014 elections to the lok Shaba (the lower House of Indian Parliament), the BJP got only 31 per cent of the popular vote but it captured 52 per cent of seats of the lok Sabha (282 out of 543). The Congress party got hugely under-represented — it got 19 per cent of vote, but got only 44 seats, which is much less than 10 per cent of the lok Sabha seats. In case of Odisha legislative Assembly, the BJD got only 43 per cent of votes. But it captured about 80 of the seats. This is the grossest form of political injustice. Unless and until this injustice is ended there would be resentment and call for bloody revolution by ultras, it maintained.
Time has come to adopt the politico-electoral system of Nepal in India. No Prime Minister or a Chief Minister should act as a dictator. The coalitional political order, that is now being dictated to, in Nepal is due to the fact that in order to be Prime Minister of Nepal, the leader has to be backed by 2/3rds of the members of the Parliament or has to be a “consensus” candidate. Thus no leader in Nepal can ride roughshod. The mudslinging that is going on in India against one party by the other, even murder of political workers by rival parties as it has been happening in the State of Kerala would come to end once the most the unjust FPTP system of election is replaced by a system of territorial-cum-PR system of elections of the Nepalese brand, the FPI told.
All those who are marginalized and exploited can stand to gain a lot proportionate to their number in the electorate. The Maoists would be fairly represented in the State Assemblies and Indian Parliament. They would be law makers and some of them would be Ministers. One of them may become Prime Minister of India like Prachand of Nepal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should aim at giving political justice to each and every section of the Indian people, it said.
The FPI demanded change the People’s Representation Act on the model of Nepal and hoped that Maoist violence will disappear from the soil of India if India adopts Nepalese brand of politico-electoral system.
