Four S'garh girls among 6 trafficked to Delhi missing

Published on:

Four Odia girls and two Odia youths of  Sundargarh, who had allegedly been trafficked to New Delhi to work  there during February last, are  reportedly missing there. A  team of Sundargarh police will  go to New Delhi to rescue the  six missing persons.

Sources said in February,  a woman agent of Bandega village in Sundargarh had lured some  youths, including  four girls, residents of Deuldih village  under  lepripada  block, to  provide them  good  placement  and  income  of Rs10,000 per  month in an Ashram in Bihar. Three youths including a girl of Deuldih village had  reached at Sundargarh and  had met the woman agent there. The agent had met  another woman of Dengibadi  and had telephoned one Nihal,  who works as an agent at Delhi, to send money to her to send the trio. Accordingly, Nihal had sent money to the  account of woman agent. Thereafter, the three youths went to New Delhi from  Jharsuguda  station by train.

When  they asked why  they were being  sent  to  New  Delhi as they had been  told  to work in Bihar, they were told that they would  go  to  New Delhi as they would  get higher salary than in Bihar. After reaching at  New  Delhi,   agent Nihal  with the  assistance  of  another agent  Suraj    had engaged the trio as  domestic  help at different  places. After  some  days,  the woman agent of  Bandega  village trafficked another  three  girls and two boys to  New  Delhi.

According to sources,  when the torture became  unbearable, two youths, identified as Om Siba and Bikash,  fled from there. After they reached Sundargarh, they narrated  about  their  trauma.

But the whereabouts of  another four trafficked girls  and  two youths   could  not   be  known.    On  June  13, when  the  family members  of  six  victims  met  the woman agent, under pressure, she gave a  written  agreement that  she  would bring  back the  six trafficked, including four girls,  within seven days. But even if about 25 days have  passed, the six trafficked persons have not returned.

Finding  no  other  alternative,  the  family  members  of  the victims lodged an FIR  in  lepripada  police  station.  According  to sources,  as  per  direction  of  Sundargarh  Superintendent of Police  Nikhil  Kanodia ,  a  police  team  of  Sundargarh   along with  family  members  of  the victims  will  go to New  Delhi shortly  to  trace  the missing persons.
