In connection with the irregularities in scrap handling in the Nesco utility division, the Sahadevkhunta police arrested four of its employees, including the then executive engineer.
The accused persons were identified as store executive officer Chittaranjan Mistry, store keepers Satyabrata Das, Rajendra Khilar and security guard Tapan Kumar Behera.
They were forwarded to court after being booked under sections 379, 409, 120(b) and 34 of IPC and further sent to jail custody following rejection of their bail petitions, informed the IIC Sagadevkhunta police station Subhransusekhar Nayak.
He added that the accused persons involved in the goof-ups couldn’t give satisfactory reply on the missing scrap materials and it was ascertained that materials were stolen from the store with their involvement.
Earlier, Mistry was placed under suspension since November 1 last year after the Vigilance wing probing the scam found at least nine bags of aluminum wires worth Rs 40,000 missing during his tenure.
Sources said that a through inquiry of past several years’ stock records would reveal the exact amount of scrap stolen from the store.
