Even after their president and four others were sent to jail custody for their bid to teach the Chief Minister the language of the State, four more National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) State unit members were detained by police while they were trying to enter the Naveen Niwas on Tuesday. For the fifth consecutive day, the student leaders as part of their “effort” to teach CM Naveen Patnaik Odia, reached near the Naveen Niwas with study materials.
Though they pleaded with the security personnel to allow them to enter the Chief Minister’s residence, the police detained them. On Monday, the police had arrested five Student Congress leaders, including the State unit president Itish Pradhan, for attempting to sneak into the fortified Naveen Niwas.
They all are now lodged at the Jharpada Special Jail. Meanwhile, PCC president Prasad Harichandan, former PCC president Jayadev Jena visited the jailed leaders, demanded their immediate release and decried the police action.
