Police on Monday arrested four persons for allegedly ransacking the Casualty Ward and misbehaving with postgraduate students of the VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) here late on Saturday night after the death of a patient.
Angry relatives and attendants of the patient who died after being admitted to the Government-run hospital ransacked the Casualty Ward and manhandled the doctors on duty, alleging medical negligence. After the incident, PG student doctors went on a strike demanding arrest of the miscreants involved in the attack and threatened to quit Casualty duty if their demands were not met.
The PG students are demanding arrest of the main culprit and are slated to gherao the local police station later in the day.
