The Ganjam police on Tuesday arrested the four detainees in connection with the Bhanjanagar quadruple murder case.

The Badagada police forwarded Basudeb Raita, Bipra Raita, Gourang Mandal and Bamada Gamanga to court.

Bhanjanagar SDPO Subash Chandra Panda said they all were involved in the murder of four persons, including a woman. “Past rivalry is the main reason of the murder,” said the SDPO.

On Monday police had recovered bodies of four persons of two families, Bhima Gamang, his wife Jaani Gamang, Dambaru Gamang and Ananda Raita of Goudagotha village in Mankadchuaan forested area under Badagada police limits.

The accused beat the four deceased to death and later buried them in a pit. While two of the deceased are from one family, the other two are from another family.

Prima facie police suspect that the four were murdered over an illicit relationship.
