A delegation of the Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch (MASM) led by its president Upendranath Mishra and coordinator Abani Gaya submitted a memorandum to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Southern Division) here on Saturday demanding stern and exemplary action against the medical students who indulged in hooliganism in the hospital campus.

If such attitude of the medical students and house surgeons continues, no patients will come to the premier medical college and hospital for treatment, the memorandum cautioned.

Condemning the unruly behavior of the medicos, the memorandum alleged that, in spite of poor state of healthcare service in the Government hospitals, the Government is interested only to build multistoried buildings for the medical colleges and pays no attention on quality healthcare and discipline.

A similar memorandum was also submitted to the RDC by the Sardar Ballahav Bhai Patel Bahu Mukhi Sangh demanding stringent action against the students. They also demanded posting a senior IAS officer to take charge of administration of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

Notably, on Saturday midnight last the MKCG students assaulted a patient’s relatives and several others over an argument on poor healthcare in the hospital. Those who bore the brunt also included a police official and a photo journalist.

Meanwhile, the bail petitions of the culprits who had been arrested and forwarded to court were rejected while the lawyers and journalists have welcomed the move.
