Forum decries Mamita issue politicisation

Published on:

The people of Odisha are slowly recovering from the onslaught of Covid-19. There is a need for collaboration among the Government, the opposition parties, the corporates and other development stakeholders to expedite the slowed-down development process.

But the opposition parties of the State are overindulged in the Mamita murder issue and ignoring mass issues like the new rice procurement restrictions by the Centre, less man days available in MGNREGS, education loss of the children, unemployment and so on.

The Odisha Development Watch stated all this at a Press meet here on Friday. Its convenor Lalit Mishra requested the opposition parties to stop protests, gheraos and strikes and pursue the  Mamita issue only in the legal process and focus on mass development issues. Co-convenor Pabitra Maharatha also spoke in the same vein.

Another co-convenor and former police officer Suryamani Tripathy said the investigation in the Mamita case is in the final phase and the culprits have been arrested. He requested the political parties to provide evidence, if they have any, instead of spreading misinformation.
