In the wake of gross irregularity in the ritual held in 2015, the State Government had appointed chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mahapatra to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on the matter. The temple body approved the plan for repairs and beautification of interior of the Jagamohan at par with the temple architecture. A sum of Rs 55 crore has been allocated to develop the Jagannath Ballav, the pleasure garden of the lord Jagannath.

The temple body assessed the irregularity during the commencing day of the Rath Yatra which delayed the pulling of three chariots as a result  of which none of the chariots could reach their destination and pulling was to be conducted the next day. This apart, the cctv scanning reports over touching of unauthorised persons were presented in the meeting it is learnt.
