Senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly wielding a sword in violation of prohibitory orders by the administration during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations here.
The former Smabalpur MlA’s action amounted to violation of prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC which had been imposed by the district administration as a precautionary measure to ensure peaceful celebration of Hanuman Jayanti.
Police also arrested some supporters of Mishra who too wielded sword despite they told them not to violate the ban. On Tuesday, the police had arrested four activists of the Hanuman Jayanti Committee for wielding swords during Jhanda Yatra on April 5.
