A case has been registered against former Phulbani MlA Debendra Kanhar for allegedly assaulting a woman and her daughter at Gaudapada village in Kandhamal district late on Monday night.
As per the complaint lodged by the victims with the Sadar police here, Kanhar reached their house in night and misbehaved with the girl. The girl’s mother opposed the act, following which Kanhar thrashed the duo, they alleged.
The mother-daughter duo reportedly sustained minor injuries. A case has been registered against the ex-MlA under Sections 294, 341,323, 354 and 506 of IPC. Action would be taken against the accused if the allegations are found to be true, said Kandhamal Additional SP Utkal Ranjan Das.
