The Utkal Sammilani on Friday demanded that the Central Government form a Border Security Council and its branches be opened in the States where there are border disputes like Kotia to solve them.Besides, the Odisha MPs, irrespective of their party lines, should take up the State’s border security, Sammilani leaders said at a Press conference here.
They questioned why Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has remained silent over such a sensitive issue. They demanded that all Odia officials holding prominent posts in the Union Government exert pressure on the Centre to solve the border row. The State Government officials working in the border districts should frequently visit the disputed villages and inform the Government about the locals’ problems and, accordingly, schemes should be formulated, demanded the Sammilani. Among others, Utkal Sammilani leaders Dillip Dashsharma, Gobinda Chandra Subudhi , Prasana Kumar Rath, Maheswar Biswal and Nimaicharan Das were present.
