The Forest Department has erected a Forest Martyrs’ Memorials in the Regional Plant Resources Centre (RPRC) campus here in memory of the forest officials who laid their lives to protect the flora and fauna of the State.
At least 21 forest officials and field functionaries have been listed in the Martyrs’ Towers.
Minister of Forests, Environment and Climate Change Pradip Kumar Amat inaugurated the tower on Sunday, the Forest Martyrs’ Day. He said man-animal conflict and forest fire are some of the adverse conditions the forest officials are facing; and in such conditions, they try to protect the natural resources.
