Taking tough action against field-level staff after the carcass of a leopard was found in the Tengnamal forest under Belpahar range recently, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) on Saturday suspended a Forest Guard for dereliction of duty and served a show-cause notice to the local Forester. DFO Arjun Behera suspended Machida beat Forest Guard Soudgar Kisan and served show cause notice to Bhimampali section Forester Hemanta Sahu. Meanwhile, Jharsuguda Division ACF Basil Barla visited the spot to probe the death of the leopard on Friday. On December 10, post mortem of the carcass was conducted on Tengnamal forest office premises. The hunters had taken away the nails, tails and teeth of the animal.
