A Forest Department employee was found dead in a hotel room in Balangir town on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Gokulananda Bhoi was working as a clerk in the office of Boudh Forest Division.
Bhoi had checked into the hotel located near the Government bus-stand on June 7. He was in the town for medical treatment.
As per hotel staffs, the guest was last seen on Sunday evening and did not come out of his room the entire day of Monday. The hotel manager rang up the Town police station after foul smell emanated from the room.
Police broke open the door and found the body lying on the bed. “We have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. The report would help ascertain the cause of death,” police said.
