Now, rail passengers or any people can dial 1512 to get help from the Government Railway Police (GRP), informed GRP IIC Saubhagya Kumar Swain here on Thursday.
Swain said the rail passengers need not remember phone numbers of all GRP police stations to get connected with the officials at the time of emergency. Now, they can get help from GRP police stations in the State by dialing only the short code. The nearest police station will answer a call, said Swain.
He said rail passengers face a lot of problems, but cannot contact the local or nearest GRP as they don’t know the landline numbers of the GRPs. “Now the short code will be very beneficial for onboard train passengers seeking police help,” said Swain.
