The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) to submit a report on a food poisoning case in Cuttack district.
A petition has been filed by civil society organisation Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain before the NHRC alleging that a woman and her son had died of food poisoning after having a meal in a hotel in Baialish Mouza in Cuttack on April 16, 2017.
Swain has urged the commission to take action against the hotel owner and pay a compensation of `10 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
