The Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of Khariar, which is a registered society formed under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to act as a management body to the local Community Health Centre (CHC), held its meeting recently to review the progress of different health and nutrition programmes of the hospital.

The members discussed about the Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), supply of diet to patients, purchase of medicine for Janani Sisu Surakshya Karyakrama (JSSK) and performance of the private medicine shop inside the medical campus. Almost all the members in the meeting expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of the medicine shop running inside the CHC campus.

The doctors including the Medical Officer in charge Dr P Chandra Achary observed that the proprietor of the medicine shop is violating agreement with the RKS. They alleged that the shop is not giving discount of 5 per cent to the customers over the purchase of medicines as agreed in the agreement. Further, it was also alleged by the doctors that the shop does not provide the medicines as prescribed by the doctors.

“The medicines provided are always of different compositions, which we do not prescribe,” said the doctors in the meeting. The RKS issued a notice to the shop owner in this regard warning him of cancellation of the licence in case of further violation of agreement.
