Follow Gandhian ideals, Naveen urges BJD workers

BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday urged party members to carry out the organisation’s membership drive on a massive scale from Monday.

Attending the party’s extended executive body meeting, Patnaik urged the grassroots-level workers to reach out to all households during the drive, which would continue till October 31. He said he would personally supervise the exercise once every fortnight.

Patnaik expressed his gratitude to the people for blessing the BJD to form Government for a fifth consecutive term.

He said the BJD has always focused on people’s welfare. His Government has introduced 5Ts for better governance. “I expect you all (BJD workers) to act as agents of transformation and bring cheers and satisfaction in the lives of common people. I want people to see integrity in our approach and actions,” said Patnaik.

He urged the party members to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary. “Gandhiji’s ideals are still relevant in the present-day society. Our party workers must work with the Gandhian institutions across the State for realising Gandhiji’s dreams,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik also exhorted party workers to strive hard to make the BJD’s ‘Jeevan Bindu’ (blood donation) programme a great success. He said the programme has already acquired the form of a mass movement in the State.

As per the party strategy, four party workers from each ward, five from each NAC, 15 from each municipality will take part as active members for enrolling members in the organisation.

Similarly, at least 40 active workers would enrol new members in each Municipal Corporation area.

Each active worker will have the responsibility to include at least 24 other members into the party fold. During the drive, the Aadhaar numbers of all the newly-included members will be linked.
