Focus on innovation, inner evolution: Guv

Published on:

As the world witnesses rapid advancement of science and technology, innovation has to be made part of the culture to keep pace with the progress,  said Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal on Monday.

“Innovation needs to be coupled with inner evolution,” Prof Lal said while addressing the valedictory function of the five-day 26th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC-2018) which ended in the campus of the SOA University here.

The NCSC, scheduled to be held next year in Kerala, was attended by over 700 child scientists from all over the country, besides ten from the ASEAN and five Gulf countries, apart from scientists.

Prof Lal said man’s eternal and consistent confusion has been that he was guided by physical perception. He said this while referring to Newton’s Laws of Motion and the ongoing search for the “God particle.”

“Newton was stirred into discovering the physical laws when he saw the apple drop from the tree, but the question which needed an answer is how did the apple reach that height in the first place? How did it go up? And who made it fall?”  he asked.

This shows that there is some force working, Prof Lal said, adding it was a great fallacy of the modern age when man thinks himself to be omnipotent.

“What are they searching for?” he asked referring to the scientists looking for the “God particle.”

Vice-Chancellor of SOA Prof Amit Banerjee presided over the function which was also addressed by Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy,

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Nalco Tapan Kumar Chand, Higher Education Secretary and Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi and Science and Technology secretary Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma.
