'Focus Odia language in manifestos'

With the general elections fast approaching and political parties preparing to release their manifestos, the Utkal Sammilani on Tuesday urged all the parties to give emphasis on promotion of Odia script and language in their respective manifestos.

Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar Industrial Estate Branch president Dillip Dashsharma said that the attempt of the then Chief Minister late Naba Krushna Choudhury in 1954 in passing ‘The Odia Official language Act’for use of the language at the Government level has yet to be made a reality.

“After Odia getting the classical language status, it should be used both in private and Government sectors. Hence, at this stage all the political parties should give emphasis for promotion of Odia language in their manifestos,” said Dashsharma.
