Samajwadi Party (SP) State president Rabi Behera has demanded criminal proceedings against the State Government, the Railway Ministry and the construction company responsible for the collapse of a flyover in city causing death of a person and injuring 15 others.
Writing a letter to the Chairman, State Human Rights Commission, Behera said that the flyover work was going on over the Sahid Nagar railway level crossing. The PWD Department of the State in collaboration with Railways was doing the work. Construction company Panda Infra was the executing agency.
The collapse of the bridge while construction was underway reflects negligence on the part of the PWD Department, the Railway Ministry and the Panda Infra. Hence, criminal actions need to be initiated against these organisations, urged Behera.
He also demanded a SIT probe into the matter and immediate arrest of the accused.
