In view of the heavy rainfall forecast in the State due to a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi on Friday directed all district Collectors to stay alert in order to tackle any possible flood situations. In a letter to all district administrators, the SRC asked them to remain prepared to meet any possible flood or waterlogging situations in their respective districts.
This apart, the field functionaries have been instructed to remain present at their respective headquarters and respond to emergency situations.
The SRC also directed all district Emergency Operation Centres to function round the clock.
“Adverse situation, if any, may be promptly reported to State Emergency Operation Centre in the office of the Special Relief Commissioner,” Sethi stated in the letter.
