Flight services from the Jeypore airstrip in Koraput district and the Rangeilunda airstrip in Ganjam district would begin soon, informed Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera on Friday.
The Minister told reporters that flights from Jeypore and Rangeilunda to Visakhapatnam under the UDAN and non-UDAN schemes would start soon. The CM had reviewed the programme and has already given his approval for the same. Both the airstrips are completely ready to start operations.
On July 28, Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra visited the Jeypore airstrip to review its upgradation work and said the facility is expected to be operational soon. Earlier, a top official of the State Government had informed that 19 chartered flights would operate from the Jeypore airstrip under UDAN scheme by the yearend.
