Flash floods wash away rly tracks in Rayagada

Published on:

Train services were badly affected between Rayagada and Titilagarh as the soil ballast below tracks was washed in flash floods between Doikalu and Ambodala stations in Rayagada district late on Tuesday night.

Three rakes of a goods train, which was travelling to Vedanta, too derailed near the Ambodala railway station. Soon, railway officials and a relief train rushed to the spot.

“Expected restoration time can be relayed only after the water flow stops and assessment of damage is confirmed. We will start restoration work when water flow recedes,” the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a release.

In view of the flash floods, the Railways has issued helpdesk numbers for information regarding diversion of trains. The numbers are 9437386759 for Sambalpur and 8455892831/9437386693 for Titilagarh.

In such a situation, the ECoR cancelled and diverted several passenger and express trains on the Rayagada-Titilagarh route.
