The State reported five more Covid-19 deaths on Tuesday, with which the total toll mounted to 1,953. Nuapada district alone reported three deaths, the other casualties being from Keonjhar and Rayagada.
Meanwhile, the State reported 4,761 new positive cases from 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally surged to 37,7,464.
This was the highest-ever daily infections in the State since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.Out of the new cases, 2,785 were from quarantine and 1,976 local contacts.
Khordha district registered the day’s highest 820 cases followed by Sundargarh with 673, Nuapada 534, Balangir 322, Jharsuguda 234,Bargarh 198, Sambalpur 183, Cuttack 176, Kalahandi 167, Nabarangpur 154 and Keonjhar 103. Besides, 160 cases were reported from the State pool. Currently, the active cases in the State stood at 27,821 and the cumulative samples tested were 96,68,401. However, 1,740 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 34,9, 377 in the State.
