The Additional District and Sessions Judge Court here on Wednesday sentenced five persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a businessman, Shaikh Sajan, three years ago.
The ADJ pronounced Meherban Ali, Sultan Ali, Bebula Ali, liaquat Ali and Irfan Ali as guilty and pronounced punishment under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after examining 17 witnesses.
Shaikh Sajan, a local businessman, was gunned down by these convicts in broad daylight while he was talking to someone over mobile phone in front of his house at Baruhan village, the prosecution said. All convicts belong to Matabad village and are in the 30-35 year’s age group.
While five had been arrested, two are still at large and one died a few months after the incident.
