The Khadya Adhikar Abhiyan (KAA) launched a five-day Odisha lok Adhikar Yatra on December 13 at various places of four districts, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Kalahandi.

The lok Adhikar Yatra organised a series of meetings, cultural and folk shows and interactive sessions during the Yatra. The Yatra also made the people aware on the dilution of pro-people legislations by the Central Government including the land acquisition act, 2013 and forest rights act, 2006 and the budget cuts in social security programmes like MGNREGA, MDM, ICDS, Maternity Benefit schemes etc.

ladhabu and Jitamu (Will fight and win) was the slogan during the whole Yatra.

The four groups reached at Sambalpur in the concluding day and held a mass meet at Sakhipada Church. Around 300 people across the State were present and discussed on the violations of different rights ensured under the constitution. KAA member Bidyut Mohanty said, “The objective of the lok Adhikar Yatra was to create mass awareness on the various pro-people rights i.e   NFSA, MGNREGS, FRA, PDS and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, etc.
