Five persons were arrested by the Sundargarh police here on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl. The girl, after her release, had lodged an FIR at the Bhasma police station of the district.
Sources said a Plus 11 student of a Sundargarh college had gone to Jharsuguda with a cousin on September 1. While returning to their village, they had stopped for urinating near Bhasma. Two youths on their way in that route by a motorcycle stopped near them and attacked the boy.
After injuring the boy, they kidnapped the girl. They handed over the girl to one of their friends, who took her to his house. The girl in her FIR alleged that the boy raped her during night. When she narrated her plight to the boy’s parents, they told her to escape from the house next morning. The arrested persons are Pritam Patel (22), Rajat Patel (23), Pintu Bagar (22), Premananda Magar (48) and Tanmay Patel (44). “Pritam Patel is the main accused as he allegedly raped the girl whereas the others are co-accused,” said IIC Bhasma police station PK Biswal.
