The Gajapati police arrested five miscreants, 12 days after murder of a former Ward member of Mohana block. The ward member was killed on August 3 over sorcery suspicion. The arrested confessed to their crime before the police and seized a gun, a knife and other sharp objects used in the crime.
Notably, two un-indentified persons with mask had entered the house of former ward member Karneyal Mandala and shot him dead. later, they dragged the body and had thrown it into the Harabhangi river dam.
The police had recovered the body and registered a case. A scientific team, a dog squad along with the Adaba police had reached the spot on August 4 and started an investigation. However, on August 15, police finally laid their hands on the culprits.
Adaba Police Station IIC Deba Chakra Ratha said the five persons arrested are from Gajapati district. They were identified as Jayaba Raita, Pitasa Raita, Andaya Dalabehera, Simon Dalabehera and labi Dalabehera. Police forwarded them to the Mohana Court.
