A day after a Bangladeshi national, Md Bashir, was arrested on charges of furnishing forged documents to procure a passport, the Commissionerate police on Thursday picked up five persons, including four Bangladeshi citizens, from Jajpur district for questioning in connection with the case.

Police rounded them up from the Baujang and Katikata areas in the district and brought them to Bhubaneswar for interrogation. These persons are said to be the accomplices of the Bangladeshi national arrested on Wednesday in the document forgery case.

The Regional Passport Office had reported the forgery to the Nayapalli police after it detected bogus documents during verification.

According to reports, Md Bashir was staying in Jajpur since last few months and had managed to procure forged documents including ID proof.

However, passport office officials grew suspicious during document verification. The doubts deepened when the applicant was unable to speak either Odia or Hindi. Interestingly, he also could not remember the residence address mentioned in his school leaving certificate (SlC) and the voter ID card.

Following this, the officials alerted the local police. and he was arrested subsequently.
