Fishing trawler capsizes in Barunei, crew of 7 safe

Published on:

A fishing trawler met with an accident after dashing a sand dune near Barunei river mouth in the Bay of Bengal under the Gahirmatha Forest Range as it lost its direction due to heavy rains and gush of wind triggered by depression on Wednesday, said Gahirmatha Ranger Suvendu Kumar Behera.

However, the seven crew members of the ill-fated trawler were later rescued by another boat that was fishing nearby. Since water had entered into the trawler, forest officials are suspecting it might have been capsized. The trawler Ganapati Bappa and its crew members were from Balaramgadi in Baleswar district.
