The National Fish Farmers’ Day was observed on Saturday at the OPDC fish seed hatchery in Digapahandi, Ganjam district. The hatchery has been developed by a group of farmers under the Mo Pokhari Yojana. Fish farmers were felicitated on occasion. The day is being observed every year to pay tribute to great scientists Dr KH Alikunhi and Dr HL Chaudhury who had successfully demonstrated technology of induced breeding (Hypophysation) in Indian Major Carps. Among others, Assistant Fisheries Officer Nikhil K Maharana, Digapahandi BDO Haladhar Sabar and DAO Anand Kumar Sasmal joined the meeting.
