A tricolour community dustbin was installed at Ambapua Bauri Street slum in ward (40), featuring intermediate storage of solid wastes from which the refuse is transported to processing or disposal site. It is child and environment-friendly. It consists of three types of dustbins: blue coloured for food wastage, green coloured for recycle wastage and red coloured for harmful wastage.
Communities have been mobilised to gather waste in different bins. The BMC has assigned to collect waste from the bin at a regular basis.Child club members and community groups of Ambapua will monitor the entire system of collection and transportation through the ‘slum sanitation wall,’ a monitoring tool for sanitation and report to the BMC health officer every week.
This was inaugurated by BMC Corporator G Gopla Reddy of ward (40). More than 120 women, children and community members and child clubs members gathered on the occasion. The YSD has a plan to create new child friendly models like mini park, children resource centre in slums, child-friendly zebra crossing and others in various slums in Brahmapur.
