The State Bank of India (SBI) has come up with an idea to boost loans under Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment covering all types of business activities viz. trading, manufacturing and services in the State.

The bank is observing three Sundays as “SME Sunday”, the first of it to be held on August 21. The second and third SME Sunday will be observed on September 18 and October 16 respectively. On these Sundays, the bank officials will visit shops, dealers and units located within 1-2 km radius of the branch.

loan application forms will be provided to the borrowers  and the filled up applications with KYC documents will be accepted by the officials on the spot or applicants may submit their application later on in the branch.

This is a special drive by the SBI to take banking to the doorstep of small and medium enterprises, which have been shy of approaching the bank thus far.
