Finally, Suria Juang succeeded to be the first Juang postgraduate in philosophy to join as a lecturer.
He joined the Charigarh College, Telkoi, recently after qualifying the SSB examination.
While the primitive Juang tribe residing in Keonjhar district has remained economically and socially backward, their literacy rate is hardly 24 per cent. Higher education is rare dream for this tribe, but despite of poverty and other problems, Suria set an example for his tribe that strong will power can bring success.
As a native of remote Budhakhamana village in Harichandanpur block, he passed his high school with support of a charitable organization and continued his study in DD College. The Principal was sympathetic enough to give him a free seat in the hostel but he faced hardship to manage his food and study expenses. With the support of philanthropic persons, he got an opportunity to complete his post graduation from Utkal University.
The Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Cuttack, felicitated Suria for his success while Kendujhar District Cooperative Union also came forward to honour him on the occasion of National Cooperative Week celebration.
“I will continue to work for promoting education of my tribe people and create awareness for their development,” Suria said while receiving the award.
