Police on Saturday arrested the prime accused Pravat Martha and his associate in connection with the firing at BJD Corporator Sridhar Jena’s family members in the city. Martha was the Corporator candidate of BJP in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections last year.
So far, four accused persons in this incident have been apprehended by police.
Two family members of Sridhar Jena were injured in the firing at Laxmisagar on Wednesday night. The incident took place a few meters from the Laxmisagar police station.
At around 11 pm on June 28, Alok Jena, elder nephew of Sridhar Jena, encountered a group of people who allegedly obstructed his way by parking their vehicle in front of his. The situation escalated into heated argument, resulting in gunfire.
Police arrested two persons following questioning in the incident.
