Fire broke out at the Plastic Surgery Ward of the MKCG Medical College Hospital here on Friday, triggering panic among patients and their attendants.
The hospital authorities immediately shifted the patients to safety.
Getting information, Fire Service teams rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
Sources said the fire was reported from the ceilings of one of the Operation Theatres (OTs) on the fourth floor of the super specialty building of the hospital
Some patients and attendant initially noticed smoke and informed hospital staffs. There was utter chaos in the building as a massive operation was launched to evacuate the patients from the hospital premises.
A Fire Service official said an electric short circuit might be the cause of the fire.
