A short circuit in the X-Ray room in the ground floor of Brajrajnagar's MCl Ib Valley Central Hospital caused fire at around 4.55 pm on Sunday, leading to panic at the hospital premises.
As heavy smoke emanated from the X-Ray room, there was a stampede-like situation as panicked patients and visitors hurried to get out of the premises.
The hospital authorities raised an alarm and an MCl fire tender was sent to the hospital. The firefighters controlled the blaze before any serious damage was caused.
When contacted, the hospital's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Deepak Ambastha said, "The fire was caused due to a short circuit in the X-Ray room. While conducting the test on a patient, the X-Ray machine's in-charge air conditioning machine broke down which caused the short circuit. The fire caused by it was controlled within an hour by the fire safety team.”
