The tehsildar of Rajnagar on Friday lodged an FIR against a suspected Bangladeshi immigrant, who was staying at Charigharia village under Gupti panchayat for last three years.

He managed to obtain two voter identity cards, one at Paradip and another at Rajnagar.

He was identified as Tarapada Raptan. Three years back, he came to Charighari and stayed at Haripada Ratpan’s house. later, he brought his wife and daughter to Charigharia village and stayed with his brother’s family. But due to some family feud, his family was staying at a rented house of Nani Mandal.

Some months back, when the district administration had decided to rehabilitate the Charigharia villagers at the Bagapatia rehabilitation colony, he too applied to get the Government benefit. As a result, the locals raised their voice alleging that Tarapada Raptan was not a native of the locality. Following this, the local tehsildar directed the RI of Gupti to conduct an inquiry.

During investigation it was found that Tarapada managed to enrol his name in Adhaar card and also obtained ration card and Biju Krushak Yojana card. When asked, Tarapada stated that he belonged to Bangladesh but over last several years he has been staying in West Bengal in 24 Praganas area under Barsat police limits. But he failed to show the documents to prove his claim.
