Rourkela MlA Sarada Prasad Nayak again courted a controversy for allegedly assaulting a Youth Congress leader. An FIR was filed against him in this connection at Bondamunda Police Station.

Sources said during Nayak’s visit to Bondamunda Diesel Colony on Friday, some local women brought before him the endemic low voltage problem of the area. They said that the problem was not sorted out in last one year despite repeated assurances from him. However, while Nayak was trying to calm down the women, Youth Congress vice president Raju Ramesh charged that Nayak had not visited the colony even once in last year.

This enraged Nayak who soon entered into an altercation with Ramesh and later assaulted him before fleeing from the spot. Immediately, Raja along with his supporters rushed to the Bondamunda police station and lodged an FIR. Getting the news many Congress leaders including former MlA Pravat Mohapatra, DCC president BN Pattanaik, former DCC president Nihar Ray and former Rourkela Municipality chairman Ramesh Bal etc rushed to the police station and demanded early arrest of Nayak.

The police said the victim had been sent for a medical test, and after the inquiry an appropriate steps would be taken.
