Locals of Karadapalli village under Golapokhari panchayat in Bhapur block in Nayagarh district have demanded financial assistance and Government support for their co-villager Santosh Barad, who has been chained for being mentally-challenged for the last 20 years.
Santosh’s wife, who is working in an Anganwadi Centre and has a five-year-old girl child, is unable manage her family with the paltry amount she is getting from her job. Besides, the madness of her husband has been a big challenge for her. After the death of Santosh’s father and mother, she has become helpless.
Notably, the mentally-challenged is deprived of the financial assistance under the Harischandra Sahayata Yojana since 15 years.
