A chunk of population around Baleswar town who were facing residential identity crisis finally got the recognition from the Baleswar municipality.
Sarkar Nagar near Angargadia and Sovarampur was neither coming under a panchayat area nor under the Baleswar municipality.
Owing to the confusion, they were facing a large number of problems. Besides they were deprived of the boon of the Government schemes.
After running from pillar to post, entangled in the crisis of the red tapism, the residents had lost hope.
MP RK Jena had convened a meeting on August 13 last year in the village which was attended by MlA Sadar JP Dash, the district Collector , the Superintendent of Police, the sub collector , the tehsildar , the chairman, municipality and the chairman Balasore regional improvement trust(BRIT) apart from other officials of the
Revenue Department and civic body. The people of the locality in chorus, besides narrating their plights had demanded that they should be brought under the municipality.
It was further found that not only Sarakar Nagar, the residents of another 10 patches were facing similar hurdles owing to the administrative bottlenecks.
The patches touching and connecting to Sahadevkhunta, Sovarampur, Angargadia , Padhuanpada, Aktarpur, Malikashpur, Kadrabad, Mansing Bazar, Purnabaleswar and Patrapada were facing similar problems.
MP Jena took the issue with the chairman of Remuna block, Sadar block, the MlA Sadar besides with the municipality chairman and the district administration.
After Jena’s persuasion, the municipality had passed a resolution in the council meeting to include them under Baleswar municipality as desired by the inhabitants.
“The administrative hitches have been removed as per proper official procedure and these village patches which were virtually no one’s baby finally got tag of the municipality,” said Jena.
