Buckling under pressure from different sections, the Kujang police have finally registered a case against local BDO Ashok Mohanty and recorded statement of the college girl, who had allegedly been molested by Mohanty in a bus on Thursday evening.
The police swung into action only after Congress and BJP workers along with some women NGO workers gheraoed the police station separately demanding action against the BDO.
IIC BN Samal has taken up the case and is conducting investigation.
Sources said Mohanty is now absconding and might be consulting lawyers to get an advanced bail from court.
It may be noted that parents of the girl had lodged an FIR on Thursday night alleging that Mohanty had molested their daughter in a bus in which both of them were coming from Cuttack in the evening. Mohanty had also given his mobile number to her for developing
relationship, according to the parents.
