Well-known film producer Akshay Parija would come up with a historical film titled Buxi Jagabandhu - The Forgotten legend as a fitting tribute to Odisha’s forgotten legends, who laid their lives in the service of the motherland.
The poster launch of the flick was held at a hotel here on Monday. It is the first ever periodic film attempted in Odisha till date. Noted Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty would play the role of Buxi Jagabandhu.
The film is a humble tribute to rediscover and unearth Odisha’s forgotten legends, said Parija, known to be a trend setter in Ollywood with award-winning films like Jianta Bhuta, Thukul and Kehi Nuhen Kahara.
Not divulging much on the plot of the movie, the producer said, "The research on the Paika Vidroh is still under process. This was the first resistance against the British that brought victory and was institutional in driving out the enemies in Khordha so much so that they feared encroaching upon the territory. Buxi Jagabandhu played a pivotal role in Odisha’s rise against the Britishers, yet there is hardly any mention of his name in the national and world history".
The film would showcase the glorious history of many warrior clans in Odisha, outside Odisha and in fact all over the world, added Parija
"After 12 years of successful film career, I will be reinventing myself in a completely different character and personality. I am very excited for being instrumental in reviving a 200-year glorious history of my motherland," said Anubhav.
The film is expected to be launched by the end of this year.
