Film festival for children kicks off in Puri

Published on:

A three-day international Nano-film festival exclusively for children was inaugurated here on Friday by Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairperson Kasturi Mohapatra.

Mohapatra advised the children to learn from the film, which make them aware about their rights. She urged the guardians and teachers to inculcate child safety norms among the children.

Hundreds of children from various schools of the city have been witnessing the film festival, which besides entertaining them sends a strong message on protection of child rights. Over three hundred small animation films based on child right themes are being screened.

The festival is organised under the aegis of district administration, Rotary club, Puri Municipality and NGOs Baywatch and Rush. On the concluding day Sunday, a painting competition on the theme “Surakshita  O Sosaana Mukta Saisaba” would be held and the winning child painters would be felicitated.

Scores of Nano-film producers from across the country and outside have been screening their documentaries, short films, animations and films without voice in the fete. Mitu Rathsarma and Debasis Rath are coordinating the festival proceedings.
