Fight caste system before ending quota: FPI

Published on:

The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has supported the continuance of caste-based reservation as long as the caste system has not been removed.

In a release it said there has to be reservation in education and Government jobs in the name of social justice for the ST, SC and OBC people.

Referring to organisations like India Against Reservation, Youth for Equality (Odisha) and All India Equality Forum which held a dharna at the lower PMG on December 13, the FPI said social reformers should honestly work for socio-political elimination of different shorts of discrimination present in the society and organise casteless, dowry-less, priest-less marriages in each and every village of India.

The party said that in order to end caste-based reservation, it is an imperative to first end the caste system by removing all caste -indicating marks like the surnames and the so-called sacred thread and endogamous/arranged marriage.
