'Fight at tribunal, protect Odisha's rights on M'nadi'

The BJP on Sunday slammed the ruling BJD, saying it has been staging demonstrations over the Mahanadi water dispute instead of resolving it though dialogues, and wanted to know if the State Government would submit fact-based data to the tribunal and protect Odisha’s interest.

“What is the justification behind the ruling BJD taking to the streets at a time when it should submit fact-based data relating to Mahanadi water dispute to the tribunal. Since very beginning, the ruling BJD is misleading people by hitting streets and providing false information to people,” alleged BJP senior leader Biswabhushan Harichandana at a Press meet here.

He claimed that the BJP has always fought for Odisha’s interest and protection of Mahanadi and would continue to do so in coming days.

He said the Chief Minister’s recent announcement to construct  seven barrages and 22 irrigation projects is nothing but a part of his vote politics.

“The Chief Minister could not construct a single barrage in any river of the State, including Mahanadi during the last 18 years.

His announcement of construction of barrages and irrigation projects are meant to hoodwink people only. He should remember that there is no night for his dreams now,” said Harichandan. He advised the State Government to fight at the tribunal and protect Odisha’s right over Mahanadi water. Among others, BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty and spokesperson Golak Mohapatra were present.
