The play surrounds the life and death of one of the greatest philosopher of Greek’s history Socrates. Socrates was an enigma, an inscrutable

individual who, despite having written nothing, is considered one of the philosophers who forever changed how

philosophy itself was to be conceived. He was sentenced to death for corrupting the youth and introducing new gods. He was sentenced to die by drinking a poison hemlock and was a lesson for coming generations, as per the story.

Talking about the play, Manoj Nair said, “We have experimented with Socrates for the first time. So we have manipulated the death scene somehow making it more impactful.”

The light design and the movements, the acting skills all of them was next to perfect in the play. It was a delightful presentation on the first day of the fest.

In the evening, another Hindi play ‘Ghareeb Nawaz’ was staged. Directed by Devendra Raj Ankur, the play was performed by the artists of Sambhavna Theatre Group, New Delhi.

It is about a youngster Vikram Mohan who comes back from America in love for his country. He begins a business here and then the whole problem began. He is a vegan and a man names Riyaz Mohammad opened a chicken shop in front of Mohan’s shop which is problematic for Mohan.

Situations arise that showcased the current scenario of the society.

Both the plays were much enjoyed by the audience.
